Not only is Claquato the oldest church in the state of Washington, it’s also the oldest structure still standing in our great state! The Methodist church was built in 1857, and became vacant when the county seat moved from Claquato to Chehalis in the 1870’s. Recognizing the historical significance and beauty of this structure, it was restored to its former glory in the 1950’s, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. Today, guests can explore this historic building at leisure, and are even able to rent the space for weddings!
